ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਅਵਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕਾਗਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਹੀ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਲਾਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਖਿਲਵਾੜ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਗਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ) ਸੰਸਕਰਣ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 15 ਅੰਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਗਾਇਬ ਸਨ, ਜਦਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਛਾਪੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਛੋਟੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਅਸਫਲਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਗਲਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ 19 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਅੰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਝੱਲਣਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਗਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਹਰਜੋਤ ਬੈਂਸ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦਕਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਹ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਠਹਿਰਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਨਾਕਾਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਲੋੜ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਲੀ ਅਸਾਮੀਆਂ ਭਰਨ, ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਕਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਗਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਲਾਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗਲਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਜਾਣ।

Former Education Minister and Congress MLA Pargat Singh has sharply questioned the Punjab Government’s claims of an “education revolution,” saying that these claims exist only on paper. He alleged serious negligence toward the Punjabi language during examinations conducted by the Punjab School Education Board, calling it equivalent to playing with the future of students.
Pargat Singh stated that in the Class 8 Science question paper, the Punjabi (Gurmukhi) version was missing three questions carrying 15 marks, while the Hindi and English versions were printed in full. He said this was not a minor error but a serious administrative and technical failure.
He further alleged that due to this mistake, more than 300,000 Punjabi-medium students suffered a loss of nearly 19 percent marks. He emphasized that such compromise with children’s future is unacceptable and that strict action should be taken against the responsible officials.
Pargat Singh also said that while Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains is claiming major reforms in government schools, he is simultaneously trying to shift the blame onto teachers to hide the government’s own failures. He added that grand claims of an education revolution have been made for the past four years, but the ground reality is quite different.
He further alleged that government schools are being given a political color, whereas the real need is to fill vacant posts, strengthen infrastructure, and provide better facilities for students. He noted that many schools still lack basic amenities.
Pargat Singh demanded a thorough investigation into the negligence toward the Punjabi language and called for strict measures to prevent such mistakes in the future.
