ਮੋਰਿੰਡਾ — ਅਜ਼ਾਦ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰ ਵੈਲਫੇਅਰ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗ ਪੱਤਰ ਹਲਕਾ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਡਾ. ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸੂਬਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਝੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਵਧਦੀ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 1500 ਰੁਪਏ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਮਾਨਦੇਹ ਮਿਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਕੋਈ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਹੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਰਾਜ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ 11 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਦੀ ਭੱਤਾ, ਸਾਜੋ-ਸਮਾਨ, ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਈਕਲ, ਰਿਟਾਇਰਮੈਂਟ ਰਕਮ, ਬੀਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਈਪੀਐਫ਼ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਲਈ “ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰ ਵੈਲਫੇਅਰ ਬੋਰਡ” ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਪੈਟਰਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 11 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੱਤੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ। ਇਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਜਨਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਮੁੜ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪੀ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸੂਬਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਰੋਪੜ, ਖਜ਼ਾਨਚੀ ਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਲੇ, ਰਣਧੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਲਹੇੜੀ, ਨਸੀਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਧੋਪੁਰ, ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਿਤੂਪੁਰਾ, ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਗੁਰਮੇਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਲਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਮੇਤ ਹੋਰ ਆਗੂ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।

Morinda — The Azad Rural Chowkidar Welfare Association, Punjab, on Saturday submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through local MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh regarding the long-pending demands of rural chowkidars.

State President Satguru Singh Majhi said that in the present era of rising inflation, rural chowkidars are receiving only ₹1,500 per month as honorarium, making it extremely difficult to sustain their households. He added that despite repeated assurances in the past, no concrete solution has been provided so far.

He further stated that in the neighboring state of Haryana, rural chowkidars receive about ₹11,000 per month along with uniform allowance, equipment support, a bicycle every five years, retirement benefits, insurance, and EPF facilities.

The Association urged the government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann to establish a “Chowkidar Welfare Board” in Punjab and to provide a monthly salary of ₹11,000 along with all allowances on the Haryana pattern. They also demanded that the responsibility of issuing birth and death certificates be reassigned to chowkidars.

On the occasion, State Vice President Amarjit Singh Ropar, Treasurer Charan Singh Balle, Randhir Singh Kalahedi, Naseeb Singh Madhopur, Ram Singh Ditupura, Gurcharan Singh, Gurmel Singh, Lal Singh, Manjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Seva Singh and other association leaders were present.
