ਮਾਰਕਫੈੱਡ ਦੇ ਡੀ.ਐਮ. ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਿਰਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਜ਼ੋਰਦਾਰ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਰਾਜ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਸੀਬੀਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਹਲਕਾ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਬਦਸਲੂਕੀ ‘ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਦੇ ਰਵੱਈਏ ਦੀ ਕੜੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦਾ ਚੌਥਾ ਥੰਮ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਸਲੂਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਤੌਹੀਨ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਸਦੀਕ ਜੀ ,ਪੰਨਗ੍ਰੇਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਬੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਲਾਰਾਂ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਰੂਪਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਮੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲੱਕੀ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਸ਼ਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਵੀ, ਬਲਾਕ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਮੋਰਿੰਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਢੀਂਡਸਾ ਆਦਿ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।

DM of Markfed CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday demanded that President’s rule be imposed in Punjab and a CBI probe into the matter.

Talking to media persons at Morinda, Channi alleged that Markfed district general manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa was pressurised by the cabinet minister in the tender case. He said that Gagandeep Singh was beaten up by the minister and arbitrary statements were made. He claimed that because of this, Gagandeep Singh was forced to eat sulfas.

Channi said the law and order situation in Punjab was very bad and a “jungle raj” situation was prevailing. “Killings are taking place in broad daylight, threats are being made by gangsters and common people are feeling insecure,” he said.

He added that farmers, employees, labourers and youth who raised their voice for their rights were being lathicharged. Employees have their own DA. The government is spending crores of rupees on its propaganda.

Meanwhile, responding to a question on the misbehaviour of journalists by the constituency MLA, Channi said this was not the first time. He said that false cases have been registered against many journalists in Punjab. He strongly condemned the behaviour of the legislator and said that the press is the fourth pillar of democracy and misbehaving with journalists is an insult to democracy.
On this occasion, he was accompanied by former MLA of Punjab Mohammad Sadiq, Pungrain Punjab.
